Every day we are pulled in many different directions as many things make their way into our lives. Things that fill our homes, that get placed on our calendars, that occupy our minds, until, finally, all these “things” start to add up. No wonder we feel overwhelmed.
At some point along the way, our priorities get skewed. It becomes difficult to see the forest through the trees. The life we imagine… of coming home at the end of a long, tiring day to a well-organized place is lost in translation.

Keeping your thoughts in order, let alone the mess in your home, seems like a never-ending battle.

Then, out of nowhere, guilt rears its head because, even though it seems like everyone has it… as your eyes wander around the house, it looks like a 3-year-old’s playroom.
Lucky…
With a little self-reflection, I discovered 3 simple habits to keep your life and home in order.
Simplicity is key
Don’t try to tackle everything at once.
Anti-slip mats vs. synthetic carpets
When we do this, when we try to bite off more than we can chew, we enter a crazy cycle.
With diluted concentration we are overwhelmed.
Work on one area for a while until we lose strength or get distracted because the mess is too big.
I was there. I did it.
15 maintenance tips for alternative flooring materials for your home
All mixed up, our mind goes from one chaotic mess to another. We’re trying to find a direction.
Instead, keeping everything simple and not trying to tackle everything at once is the secret sauce to understanding everything.
Start in one room (or maybe even a specific area of a certain room) + eliminate everything that doesn’t belong. At first it will feel like you’re moving chaos from one area to another, but remember we’ll get to that later.
At the moment we are only dealing with one room.
Create simple systems
If you stick around here long enough, you’ll hear me say that “everything successful in life is systematized.” I can’t begin to tell you how much of an impact this mindset can have in eliminating the stress that comes with the organizing process.
What you need to eliminate clutter from your home is a plan.
And if you’re like most people who struggle to get organized. For those who need help prioritizing tasks and finding out where to develop first, we have the solution for you
(psst… we know some *wonderful organizers* who can make your crazy dreams a reality).
(To develop a solid game plan, that works for the way you and your family live)
Start by evaluating your routines
How do you use the different areas of your home?
Do you fold clothes in the living room?
Do you throw the pile of mail on the kitchen counter?
Does the bag of recyclables get stuck on the back door instead of ending up in the recycling bin in the far corner of your garage?
Hmm…
We create systems that keep our homes and lives free when we better understand our daily habits.
It is essential to know how you want to live within the walls of your home. Developing systems, maximizing the space that suits you + your way of living is what creating a home is all about.
By understanding how you currently do things and focusing on what you need, we can bridge the gap between your greatest dream desire for a tidy home and your habits. #BoomGirl
The discipline is inherent to the maintenance of systems
The third habit to keep your life free and your home organized is discipline. huh? Truly?
What we teach our clients during our one-on-one organizational sessions is that no matter how simple we create a system… Systems will not maintain themselves!
No matter what, even if it is built 100% around you, it directs your daily flow entirely.
There’s some muscle inside you, honey (don’t worry, not the long, skinny one) that we need to train.
The good news is that this is a judgment-free zone, so grab a scoop and devour a bowl of ice cream while you’re at it.
Discipline is an act that keeps alive the desire for what you want, which is an organized home + a clutter-free life.
So the moral of the story is that to have cake + food all day, every day, developing an easy-to-maintain routine is inherent to systems that work overtime.
Well, the secrets have been revealed! what do you think? Let me know if you try any of these ideas. Of course, these 3 simple habits to keep your life and home de-cluttered will seem a little more magical.
