How do you choose the right tiles for the stove? 4 tips

Cahlele is the external covering of the stove. The efficiency of the fire inside and the appearance of the building largely depends on them. Choosing the right models is therefore important not only from an aesthetic point of view, but above all from a practical point of view. Here are some tips that will help you enjoy thermal comfort around your stove covered with special tiles:

Choose quality materials

The construction of a stove involves the use of open fire in closed spaces. All natural or artificial fuels that fuel fire pose some type of danger. Choose to build only with materials whose energy efficiency is proven over time, so that fumes can be discharged safely. As for the tiles, they will be subjected not only to the high temperatures coming from the hearth, but also to rapid temperature changes from cold to hot.

During tile installation

The choice of tiles must be made before starting the actual construction of the stove. The reason is simple: not only the appearance of the stove depends on them, but also its model, so the assembly of the stove is carried out taking into account the available material and the angles of the corner tiles. The order of operations for lifting the stove begins with arranging the tiles on the floor in the position where they will be installed, in order to have an overall picture. Starting from the plinth, place a row of tiles until you reach the downspout. The application of tiles is carried out taking into account the appearance. If cracks or chips have occurred during transport which do not compromise the integrity of the pipe, but are unsightly, they will be mounted in the least visible places possible.

Types of tiles

Tiles are made from two types of materials: porcelain and terracotta. Thanks to the efficiency proven over centuries of use, terracotta stove models offer the best performance. The shape of the pipe depends on the place where it is installed. Plinth tiles are special and should be chosen based on the size of the project. For each corner you will need a suitable template. Corners are also needed for the main body of the stove. Most will be normal tiles, square or rectangular, of the size you choose, mounted according to the desired pattern. For each facade of the stove it is possible to choose one or more tiles with a shaped pattern as a design element. If your project includes shelf, cornice, window or arch designs, you will need to choose tiles from these categories.

Design element

Even if it receives energy efficiency and construction resistance, the aesthetics of the stove should not be neglected. Terracotta tiles are available in a variety of colors, the most used of which are white and various shades of yellow, blue and green. The choice of color can be made either by taking into account the walls and furnishing elements in the room, or by using the stove as a resistance element that will attract all eyes. Although most of these constructions have a uniform color character, it is possible to combine two compatible colors for a unique pattern. The patterns made on tiles directly from the factory can be geometric shapes, floral decorations, animals, birds or other designs of popular or religious inspiration.

The choice of tiles is the responsibility of the beneficiary. For the actual construction, taking into account the specifics of this project, the experience of a specialist is required. Stoves and fireplaces use open fire sources, which must burn safely for the tenants and the building in which they operate. The sustainability of the project also depends on maintenance measures. Chimneys need to be cleaned periodically, and problems encountered along the way need to be resolved as soon as possible. As for the tiles, they are easy to clean with products specific to the material they are made of.
